Strongman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya aka MC Oluomo and three journalists landed in hospital today after a knife and gun attack by some gangsters at the flag-off of the party’s campaign in Ikeja.
NEWS FLAKES NG learnt that three journalists sustained gunshot wounds as guns, machete and other dangerous weapons were freely used when rival gangs clashed at the Skypower Ground venue of the rally in Ikeja and sent party stalwarts running for cover.
The police later brought the situation under control as they engaged the hoodlums in a shootout.
Lagos State governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, who was making a speech at the time had to leave the stage abruptly.
He was guarded out of the venue with his deputy, Alhaja Idiat Adebule, the APC governorship candidate, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and other prominent members of the party.
Several people were injured in the violence that is suspected to be between the gang of MC Oluomo and that of a rival identified as Kunle Poly.
Pick-pockets also had a field day robbing people of their phones, money and other valuables.
