Opinion: AFTERMATH OF OGUN POLLS! Amosun + GNI — “WHAT IF….” by John Izabi [AN INTERESTING READ]

AMOSUN + GNI  – THE EXPECTED ALLIANCE THAT NEVER MATERIALIZED – “WHAT IF…..” by John Izabi ‘The Salient Pen Pusher’

Prelude to the just concluded 2019 general elections, especially the Gubernatorial polls in Ogun – the Gateway state, and with the heated political atmosphere that permeated the entire state, one would have thought the outcome of the much anticipated electioneering process would be declared INCONCLUSIVE with its attendant consequences cum drama.

But lo and behold, the dust is finally settling. And winners have started emerging with the losers already kicking and venting their displeasure while apportioning blames and counting their losses. Some might say, that’s expected though.

However, What if..… I mean, just what if Amosun had listened to baba Obasanjo and adopted GNI as his candidate following APC’s post primaries crises through a formidable alliance just like OGD did at last with Chief Osoba (known arch-enemies) to pave ways for Prince Dapo Abiodun’s eventually triumph today….

Perhaps, they both, i.e SIA with all the ‘funds’, dogged – sagacity and part of APC large party structure across the state and GNI, who’s got an alluring personality, calmness, public sympathy and political acumen wouldn’t have lost they way they did, atleast if the popular Ogun West Agenda actually meant so much to the canvassers as they made it look.

Unfortunately, Amosun had forgotten may be too much in a hurry, the political aphorism that “In Politics, there are no permanent friends nor permanent enemies, but permanent interests” and Incontrovertibly, he (Amosun) goofed and got his political calculations wrong…

And Alas! the relentless Lion of Bourdillon, who’s waxing stronger by the day, fast spreading his political tentacles throughout the entire southwest and beyond in partnership with Otunba ‘Dan the fearless  Lion-fighter in The Den’ and The revered Egba Chief, well backed by the Quiet but Calculative Prof Pastor, eventually had their way.

Indeed, FOUR … Not just three nor two, are better than one.

**#AFTERTHOUGHT: And lest I forget, what now happens to the much publicised cum debated OGUN WEST AGENDA? Will it be another wait of eight years?? With YAYI standing by, what are the future political chances of the Prince from IMEKO after three unsuccessful attempts to Oke-mosan seat of power  – 2011, 2015, 2019? Time, Time, Guess only Time can tell.
