AFCON 2019: Super Eagles To Play Defending Champions Cameroon in Round of 16 [SEE FULL FIXTURES]

CAIRO  – The Super Eagles of Nigeria have officially been set up in a 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) round of 16 clash against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon on Saturday at the Alexandria Stadium in Egypt’s Industrial city of Alexandria.
The defending champions failed to overcome Benin Republic at the Ismaila Stadium in a keenly contested goalless draw in their final group game, a draw which meant they lost their top spot in the group to rivals, Ghana.
Second half goals from Jordan Ayew and Thomas Partey saw Ghana cruise to a 1-0 victory against the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau at the Suez Stadium.
The Black Stars cruised to the top of Group F to set up up a round of 16 with the runner up in Group E which could either be the quad of Mali, Tunisia, Angola or Mauritania.
The Barea of Madagascar on Sunday, stunned Nigeria in a 2-0 defeat at the Alexandria Stadium after goals from Lallaina Nomenjanahara and Carolus Andrea in either half of the game ensured the Gernot Rohr tutored side lost Group B’s first spot to the AFCON debutants.
