OGUN – Police in Ogun have arrested three members of a local vigilante group in Ijebu-Igbo, popularly known as Yaluwon for allegedly killing a 24-year-old, 400 level student of Olabisi Onabanjo University.
The suspects, Idowu Ayodele a.k.a Olori Odo, Segun Ogunbanwo a.k.a Kikisore and Salisu Akeem were said to have arrested the victim, Ahmed Obisanwo and one of his friends on the 8th of August at Ijebu-Igbo alleging that the two friends were members of the Eiye cult group.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi explained that the suspects, after arresting the victim and his friend did not take them to the police station at Ijebu-Igbo, but later released his friend and murdered Armed.
Oyeyemi said that the suspects were arrested following a petition written to the Commissioner of Police by the father of the victim that One Surakat Obisanwo, who complained that his son Ahmed Obisanwo and one of his friends were arrested on the 8th of August, 2019 at Ijebu-Igbo by the local security outfit on allegation that the two friends were members of Eiye cult group.
He said that the Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama, on the strength of the petition, directed the Anti cultist section to investigate and unravel the mystery behind the disappearance of the victim.
Oyeyemi, however, said that the team embarked on technical and forensic investigation and discovered that the local security suspects did not take the two boys to the police station, but released one of them and killed the victim, who is the son of the petitioner.
The PPRO therefore added that the security men stripped the corpse of the victim naked before throwing it into the Osun river to flow freely into the lagoon.
Exhibit recovered from them included four locally made double barrel guns, ten live cartridge, one iron axe, one native dagger, one jacket with security inscription on it.
He said that efforts are on top gear to nab the other members of the group involved in the case.
