“They were still holding the girl hostage and subjecting her to this indignity when the Police came to her rescue and arrested the suspects. The victim has since been given needed medical attention, while the suspects will be arraigned in court soon” he added.
ABEOKUTA – A 29-year old man, Abiodun Hassan alongside three others have been arrested by men of the Ogun State Police Command, for forcefully having carnal knowledge of Happiness Moses, after she was kidnapped and kept in a bush at Agbele area of Sagamu, in the State.
Parading the suspects on Wednesday at the Police Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Edward Ajogun, said the suspects were arrested last week following a routine patrol by men of the Sagamu Divisional Police station.
Ajogun explained that, the victim, who claimed to be a graduate of Kogi State University was lured by one of the suspects who met her on Facebook to Sagamu from Lagos.
He said, the suspects took turns of sex in a hotel after which they took her to the bush and forced her to open her phone and checked through her bank account.
Unfortunately, the victim has only over N1,000 in her account, a situation which infuriated members of the gang and had another round of rape.
“The victim after having carnal knowledge of her in a hotel, was later forced to open her phone and check her bank account, but unfortunately, she had a little over One thousand Naira in the account, therefore, this infuriated Hassan, and dragged her to the bush for another round of rape.
Similarly, the police paraded another suspect, Adenuga Eniola, who was arrested for murder of a co-worker, Faith Jude, after having forceful carnal knowledge of the victim.
The police said, the suspect reported at the Lafenwa Police Division that he found the victim’s lifeless body at their work place.
The Deputy Police Commissioner said, upon investigation, it was discovered that, there were marks of violence on the deceased’s body which raised the suspicion that she was murdered.
“Upon the report, detectives from Lafenwa Division moved to the scene where the picture of the corpse was taken. On close examination, it was discovered that there were marks of violence on her body, which raise the suspicion that she was murdered.
“Based on the discovery, the complainant, Adenuga Eniola, was professionally interrogated, and it was discovered he was the person who killed the victim. He confessed to the crime and stated that the deceased, a co-worker came to the shop to collect money for their boss. He took advantage of the heavy down pour then to grab the deceased, gagged her mouth with a piece of cloth while he raped her.
“Having had his way with the girl, he discovered that she had given up the ghost due to suffocation. He is under arrest in connection with the incident, while the case is undergoing investigation at the Homicide Section of the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID)” DCP Ajogun explained.
