– Cristiano Ronaldo becomes the first footballer in history to win the MVP in England, Spain and Italy
– The 34-year-old was given the award for the best player in 2018-19 Serie A season where Juventus won the league
– Ronaldo failed to show up for the 2019 Ballon D’Or ceremony as Lionel Messi won his sixth award
Cristiano Ronaldo has extended his outstanding record over his fiercest rival Lionel Messi as he becomes the first player to win the best player in England, Spain and Italy.
The Juventus forward failed to attend the 2019 Ballon D’Or ceremony as Messi scooped a record sixth award and now one above Ronaldo.
But that did not in any way change Ronaldo setting another record similar to the one he created as the first player to win the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A titles.
On the same night he came third behind Messi and Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk in the 2019 Ballon D’Or, the 34-year-old was given the accolade for Serie A’s best player in Milan, Italy.
It now means Ronaldo has added another feather in his cap after helping Juventus win their fifth eighth Scuttedo and the Super Cup, becoming the league’s top scorer.
Messi has played all his career in Barcelona and it is an unachievable task for the Argentine to match Ronaldo’s record in that area.
Meanwhile, it had earlier been reported that Lionel Messi has finally opened up that he was hurt when his rival Cristiano Ronaldo leveled his five Ballon D’Or awards in 2017.
The Barcelona talisman beat Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk and Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo to second and third respectively to win the award in 2019.
