A Federal High Court in Lagos on Thursday sentenced a former Governor of Abia, Orji Kalu, to 12 years imprisonment for N7.2 billion fraud and money laundering. Anxiety As Another Pipeline Explosion Hit Lagos

Court Orders Saraki, Akpabio, Fayemi, Others To Return Pensions Received As Former-Governors

  Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the Federal Government to recover pensions collected by former governors serving as ministers and members of the National Assembly. The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) said it obtained the certified true copy of the judgment on Tuesday delivered by Justice Oluremi Oguntoyinbo. The judgment was, however, read out last week following order of mandamus filed by SERAP in suit number FHC/L/CS/1497/2017. The court also directed the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, to challenge the legality of states’ pension laws permitting former governors and other ex-public officials to collect such pensions.
