45 Years Old Man Remanded In Kirikiri Prison For Raping A Teenager In Lagos

A 45-year-old Gardner, Phillip Ononaku, who allegedly defiled a 13-year-girl, was on Tuesday remanded at the Kirikiri Prisons by an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court. The Magistrate, Mrs E. Kubeinje, however, refused to take the plea of the defendant when the charge was read to him in court. Kubeinje ordered that the defendant be kept behind bars, pending legal advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), NAN reports. “Because of the sensitivity of the case, it is difficult to grant bail. Seven killed in Rivers cult attacks

At least, seven persons were killed in Kono Boue, Khana, and Isiodu communities in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State by gunmen suspected to be cultists. The suspected cultists also destroyed properties worth millions of naira during the raid of the Kono Boue community in Khana LGA on Sunday. While five persons were shot dead in Khana LGA, two were said to have been hacked in Isiodu during another cult war in Emohua. Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered that upcoming musician, Azeez Fashola, alias Naira Marley, be remanded in the prison custody. The judge made the remand order on Monday morning shortly after the musician was arraigned before him on 11 counts, bordering on credit card fraud. Naira Marley had pleaded not guilty to the cyber fraud charges pressed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested a 31-year-old Islamic scholar and herbalist, Jamiu Isiaka, for allegedly impersonating the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Dr Maikanti Baru, and the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, among other prominent citizens.
