Armed with placards bearing different inscription such as “Osinbajo in the name of your Lord your God, let peace reign in Ogun”, “Akinlade is our Governor, give us our mandate, don’t steal it”, “Akinlade Lafe L’ogun”, “We voted for Akinlade not Dapo Abiodun”, “Oshiomole and NWC endorse Akinlade Now” among other, the protesting women later made a de-tour to converge at the state secretariat of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) at Oke-Ilewo where to spoke with newsmen.
Speaking with journalists, the party’s Women Leader, Mrs. Shade Giwa who led the protesters accused the APC’s National Working Committee (NWC) of conniving with others within the party to impose an unpopular candidates on them in Ogun.
Giwa alledged that the candidate imposed on Ogun APC, Dapo Abiodun did not participate in the party’s governorship primary election held across the state.
“We want the whole Nigeria to know that we in Ogun state are of Ogun standard and we cannot take anything apart from that. In the party primary recently conducted in Ogun, we voted for Adekunle Akinlade, we don’t know Dapo.
“It was a surprise to us when the NWC announced Dapo Abiodun as the party candidate, but, we don’t know him because when we had the primary, Dapo Abiodun was nowhere to be found.
“Adekunle is the one that all the APC women voted for and anything apart from Akinlade is a NO to us.
“We are warning all the NWC led by Adams Oshiomole because women are going to take action if they fail to announce Akinlade as the party candidate before Friday. We are going to storm Abuja to express our displeasure”.
The women however, warned the National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomole to yield to their demands and declare Adekunle Akinlade as the winner of the governorship primary held in the state or be ready to see the wrath of women.
