– APC remain adamant on Akinlade
By John Izabi,
ABEOKUTA – Indications emerge earlier today Friday October 26, 2018 that former president Olusegun Obasanjo may have begun strong efforts to woo outgoing governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun to support African Democratic Congress, ADC Gubernatorial Candidate in the forthcoming 2019 Polls, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka as the state’s next governor, NEWS FLAKES NG can authoritatively report.
This is coming days after the governor in company of two revered monarchs of the state as well as other APC party chieftains had visited President Muhammadu Buhari at Aso Rock on a visit perceived to be one of the governor’s last minute moves to persuade the president to intervene in favour of his anointed Guber candidate, Hon. Abiodun Akinlade to be endorsed as the party’s flagbearer for the state.
However, things turned out to have fallen out of favour with the governor as both the president and the rest of the APC top party hierarchy remain adamant on the choice of the National Working Committee decision endorsing Dapo Abiodun as the authentic Ogun Guber candidate for 2019 describing the decision as final.
The governor later reportedly accused some party chieftains both within and outside the state including the national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, former Ogun governor, Chief Olusegun Osoba and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of conspiring to Perpetrate ‘fraud’ in the state’s Primaries that produced Prince Dapo Abiodun as the governorship candidate.
Meanwhile, there appears not to be any response yet from any of the accused party Chieftains as their silence continues to unsettle both camps, especially the Amosun faction.
The National Chairman later reportedly described many of the aggrieved governors and other members of the party who lost out in the Primaries as ‘bad losers’, a statement which didn’t go down well with many of them.
To this end, former president Obasanjo appears to be keying into the current imbroglio rocking the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress to woo governor Amosun to support his party’s candidate, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka for the state’s top job come 2019 as he paid a courtesy call on the Governor in his Oke mosan office earlier today, in a move interpreted by most political pundits and commentators as persuading Amosun to shift focus on the African Democratic Congress in order to protect his political interests come 2019.
The two addressed press men immediately after the closed – door meeting but gave no real hints as to what their main points of discussions were.
However, whatever the case may be, only time would tell in the coming days.
Recall that ADC Gubernatorial Candidate, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka has contested twice for the state’s No. 1 job as Governor under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP before finally defecting to his current party earlier this year, first in 2011 and in 2015 and had lost to Incumbent Governor, Senator Amosun on both occasions.

Prince GNI had attributed his move from the PDP camp to that of the ADC to alleged lingering internal crises in the party.
He won the gubernatorial candidate ticket of ADC in a landslide victory unopposed, emerging as the party’s consensus candidate in a unanimous decision earlier in the party’s Primaries held in the state.
Born in February 1962 into the family of late Prince Tijani Adebowale Isiaka and Alhaja Adijat Isiaka of Remo Quarters, Imeko in Imeko Afon Local government area of Ogun state, GNI is tauted by most political pundits in the state as the favourite candidate to win the forthcoming gubernatorial elections come 2019.
