L-R: Gov Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State with health commissioner, Dr Akin Abayomi and Deputy Gov, Obafemi Hamzat
Residents of Lagos State seem to be warming up for another round of total lockdown judging from recent updates from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, especially within the last 24 hours.
NEWS FLAKES NG reports that as of late Friday night May 15, 2020, the daily updates from the NCDC showed that Lagos State alone raked in a total of 179 fresh cases out of the recorded 288 confirmed cases nationwide.
This disturbing figures seem to suggest another declaration of a total lockdown by state government if that of the Federal Government does not come in time.

NEWS FLAKES NG recently reported that the Lagos State government had taken to Twitter social media platform to conduct an opinion poll to elicit public reaction regarding the declaration of another total lockdown in the state.
The result of the poll indicated that more than half the total number of respondents gave nod to another total lockdown while a few others kicked against the plan.
Recall that NEWS FLAKES NG had reported earlier that the Prince Dapo Abiodun - led Ogun State government has once more declared another one week extension of the lockdown order in the state, with the latest to end by May 24.

The Governor had attributed the reason for the latest decision to poor compliance with safety measures as outlined by health experts in the state, latest Twitter poll results as well as continued spike in the number of confirmed cases of the virus especially in the state.
Lagos has consistently maintained the lead with record of highest number of daily confirmed cases in recent updates according to data from the NCDC which thus suggests that another total lockdown in the state is imminent.
In total, the state now has the highest number of confirmed cases nationwide with a whopping 2278 cases and is being closely followed by Kano State and the FCT with 761 and 386 cases respectively.
