OGUN - Fear gripped residents of Ogun state following the recent updates from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, whose latest announcement of daily update showed an astronomical surge in the number of daily figures from the state.
According to latest reports from NCDC as of 11:59pm Tuesday night, June 9, 2020, the state recorded the highest number of daily figure of 108 new confirmed cases bringing the total of the cases in the state to 471, thus causing obvious worries for the state government which has been working hard in recent times to contain further spread of the virus in the state.

NEWS FLAKES NG reports that with these latest figures, the state with 471 cases in total now ranks 4th on the overall Nigeria COVID19 table just behind Lagos (6,065), Kano (1,020) and FCT (1,012).
Official update from the Governor Dapo Abiodun's official Facebook page as monitored by NEWS FLAKES NG reads;
"Ogun COVID-19 Update #11: 108 New Confirmed Cases, 16 Discharged, Total Confirmed Now 471 including 256 Active Cases
On the 9th of June, 2020, 108 COVID-19 cases were reported reported confirmed by the NCDC in Ogun State.
This makes the total number of confirmed cases in the State, since the index case in February, 471.
At the same time, the State discharged 16 patients, who have recovered from the virus, to continue living their usual lives with their families.
This newly discharged cases make the total number of discharged cases in Ogun State 202.
There are currently 256 active cases being treated by State and Federal health authorities, while contact tracing continues for the patients.
Unfortunately, the State has a total number of 13 related deaths recorded, making it extremely important for everyone to comply with stated guidelines.
The public is advised to maintain preventive measures recommended by recognised health authorities.
Recall that NEWS FLAKES NG had earlier reported that Nigeria late Tuesday night June 9, 2020 recorded its highest daily figure of 663 new COVID-19 cases bringing the total number of cases in the country to 13,464 as of the time of filing this report.
