Former Nigeria national team coach Samson Siasia has been banned from the game for life following a match-fixing probe by world governing body FIFA. FIFA said in a statement on Friday that the adjudicatory chamber of their independent Ethics Committee found that Siasia was “guilty of having accepted that he would receive bribes in relation to the manipulation of matches in violation of the FIFA Code of Ethics.” The 51-year-old Siasia played 51 times as a striker for the Nigerian national team and later coached various national youth sides before a spell as senior coach in 2016. Nigerians spend over 730 billion Naira annually on sports betting and at least two billion naira is generated daily, recent research data shows. Two die, others injured in Onitsha road accident

OWERRI – Two Persons have been confirmed dead and several others injured in a trailer accident in Onitsha, Anambra state.  The Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Haruna Mohammed who confirmed the incident to our correspondent said four others had been hospitalised. Tension Rising As Iran Writes Nigeria To Release El-Zakzaky To Them For Treatment

The Prosecutor-General (Attorney-General) of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammed Montazeri, has asked the Federal Government of Nigeria and the judiciary to allow the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Shiekh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, to come to Iran for medical treatment.
